Does the cost of gas and electricity stop you from turning on the heat at home?

New figures from CRU show an increase in electricity customers who are behind on their bills.

THE COMMISSION FOR the Regulation of Utilities (CRU) has revealed that energy bill arrears continue to climb – with 187,300 electricity customers now more than 90 days behind on their payments.

Speaking in the Dáil yesterday, Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty criticised the Government for failing to challenge energy companies. He also noted that CRU’s figures from July do not reflect the impact of the recent cold weather.

In response, Tánaiste Simon Harris said the Government was conscious of the recent low-temperature warnings, adding that “nobody should be afraid to turn on their heat during the cold weather”.

So today we’re asking: Does the cost of gas and electricity stop you from turning on the heat at home?
