'They must stop': UN boss warns of 'continued violations' of Gaza's ceasefire

The UN called for all parties to abide by the terms of the peace agreement’s first phase.

THE UNITED NATIONS secretary-general has decried “continued violations” of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Antonio Guterres warned against violations of the ceasefire in Gaza that halted two years of devastating war in the Palestinian territory.

Addressing reporters on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Guterres said he was “deeply concerned about the continued violations of the ceasefire in Gaza and appealed for the attacks to stop.

“They must stop and all parties must abide by the decisions of the first phase of the peace agreement,” Guterres said.

Last week saw dozens of Israeli air strikes in one night, killing at least 100 people in Gaza according to the territory’s civil defence agency.

Those fatal attacks came just hours after US President Donald Trump said “nothing” would jeopardise the ceasefire agreement he helped broker.

Israel has also accused Hamas in turn of breaking the terms of the ceasefire.
