Great Irish Bark Off: Meet your Pup of the Month

Meet Minnie, the cocker spaniel.

IT WAS A close call, but you’ve chosen a winner…

Last month, as part of our Great Irish Bark Off series sponsored by Allianz, our readers were asked to make the very tough choice between Toby, Minnie and Wilbur as their pup of the month. After much suspense, Minnie came out on top, with a grand total of 3,970 votes.

It’s no mean feat and it’s a well-deserved win for Minnie, who stole thousands of hearts with her puppy-dog eyes. Minnie will take home the prize of a €30 voucher for pets.ie, as will each month’s winner.

Minnie is a 13-year-old cocker spaniel from Wicklow who is well-known throughout her town. She was submitted by Conn, who himself is just eight years old, and wants everyone to know that Minnie is a very gentle dog who only barks at birds and people knocking at the door. Her favourite hobby is stealing bones from her family’s dinner and burying them in the back garden.

We’ve received hundreds of wonderful and worthy woofers into our inbox and as always, it’s our goal to spread as much of the joy as possible. That’s why we’re sharing our honourable mention with you, and this month, the accolade goes to Ógie, a 13-week-old sheepadoodle (a cross between an Old English Sheepdog x Poodle). Check out his unique coat, which makes him look as though he’s wearing black trousers!

His hobbies also include biting everything he can get his paws on while teething, earning him the nickname ‘crocadoole’. He also loves doing Yoga with his human, Jen, who calls him Ógie the Yogi.
