Cork: Boy (9) struck in hit and run

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to the collision on the Old Youghal Road in Cork.

A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy was injured when he was struck by a vehicle in a hit and run yesterday.

Gardaí in Mayfield are appealing for witnesses to a collision on 23 February at approximately 5.05pm on the Old Youghal Road, Cork between Dillons Cross and Gordon’s Hill. A 9 year old boy was struck by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene.

The boy received serious fractures to his leg and was removed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. His injuries, although serious, are not life threatening.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone that was in the area at that time to contact them at Mayfield Garda Station on 021 4558510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or contact any garda station.

They particularly wish to speak to the driver of a beige or silver coloured Nissan Primera (2002 model or later) or anyone that may have observed this vehicle in the area.
