FOR MANY OF us, our gardens are the centre of attention during the summer months only to be neglected for the rest of the year. But, come rain or shine, this doesn’t have to be the case.

Finding some fun and bright items that can sit outdoors, whatever the weather, will make the space more pleasant even when the sun isn’t beaming.

This week, we’ve searched high and low for some weatherproof items that will let you enjoy your garden in between showers or on unexpected warm evenings. And, soaking up a new view from indoors is also a big plus.

Great cover up: In an already bright garden that benefits from a lot of greenery, sometimes all that’s needed is a pop of crisp white for contrast. @gardens_and_architecture establishes the dining space with a large umbrella that will protect from any unexpected drizzle. And, their choice of weatherproof furniture means they can sit outdoors on cooler autumn evenings, without having to haul the furniture from storage each time.

Find a similar bright white garden umbrella at Fruugo.ie.

Table manners: Natural wood is the perfect garden component and a big dining table that can easily sit ten or more people ensures the space is inviting and acts as an extra room for any impromptu meals outdoors. Added accessories like @anouskahempeldesign has here will brighten up the area instantly, too.

A large table like this one can be picked up at Neptune.

Material world: Waterproof materials are an obvious choice when it comes to decorating a garden you want to use all year around. Here, @housenumber10 brings in some fun designed cushions and a rug that all sit perfectly with these outdoor chairs – no soggy, mould-prone garden accessories here.

Find a similar rug with a little more colour at Next.

Autumn weaves: Rattan furniture is strong, long-lasting and will withstand all of the elements making it a godsend for those who want to keep their garden intact all year. @ikeaaustria creates the perfect outdoor haven for the patio, balcony or nook in the garden with an added bistro set and smaller accessories that keep the space bright. A quick collection of the cushions will ensure nothing gets wet.

You can find a tonne of rattan furniture choices at IKEA.

Winter light: String lights create an ambience for every season and will inject life to your back garden which will be much needed on those earlier, darker evenings. @lights4fun has the right idea by hanging them across the length of the walls for an all over glow.

Find some weatherproof festoon lights at Not on the High Street.

All new cast: @simply.weekend brightens up her backyard in a pinch with the addition of festoon lights, bunting and a sturdy, weather resistant bistro set made from cast iron. Perfect for smaller gardens that can get a bit dreary during the autumn/winter months.

Strong cast iron sets can be found at Outdoorfurniture.ie.

Ordered before Easter, finally put together because we actually had some sunshine today. It’s perfect for this garden, love the cottage vibes and can’t wait for breakfast out here when it warms up a bit more. We had lunch here today followed by ice cream on the terrace in the sun, now for a dog walk then a film. A lovely Sunday 😊 I have the doctors in the morning for a check up on my new meds/dosage etc, bit nervous he may want to up the dose and I experience more side effects just as I’m starting to feel better but 🤞🏻 it goes ok! #oldhouselove #cottagegarden #gardenfurniture #gardendecor #gardengoals #gardeninspo #loveofcountryhouses #bunting #festoonlights #lazysusanfurniture #castironfurniture #hinching #myhousethismonth #storyofmyhome #gardeninglove
