IRELAND HAS CONTINUED to open up to those who once needed to live in the capital to get to work every day. Nowadays, many are still working remotely or need to be in the office a couple of times a week. As a result, towns and villages that are a manageable commute away, are on our radars. One such is Wicklow, the seaside town that sits about an hour or so outside the city centre by train.

10 Leitrim Place is a charming double fronted home that’s full of character with Wicklow Harbour just metres away along with everything the town has to offer.

The kitchen is a large light-filled space that benefits from Velux windows overhead, plenty of storage and access to the courtyard garden. It sits at the back of the house and is painted in an easy to work with soft grey tone. The space also incorporates a dining area for more casual, everyday meals.

The large island unit, with built in sink and hob, zones the space wonderfully while the utility room keeps laundry out of the cooking area and has lots more storage, too.

There is a more casual family room as well – more modern in design with views of the garden and timber floors. There’s also a large solid fuel stove in this space to cosy it up further.

Upon entering, you’re met with a elegant hallway with a chequerboard floor that leads to the drawing room which carpeted and is filled with classic features like the ornate fireplace, ceiling rose and coving.

The dining room is a big space and would make for some pretty special formal meals. Again, the ceilings are high and ornate coving adds classic detail to the space. There is also a black slate fireplace in this room.

Both the drawing room and the formal dining room overlook the river to the front of the house.

The house is a generous 208 m² in size so that allows for three of the four bedrooms to have their own bathrooms. The large landing area connects to each room with the main bedroom complete with built-in wardrobes and even a bath in the en suite. Two bedrooms look over the front of the home while the other two look over the back. Every one of the bedrooms is a spacious double.

While the pretty yard to the front, ideal for people watching, is sure to catch the eye of anyone walking by, there is also a courtyard garden to the back for more privacy and outdoor entertaining.  The courtyard is fully paved and has handy pedestrian access which brings you even closer to the sea.

Wicklow itself is a colourful and vibrant town that’s well-serviced by shops, restaurants, a new library and a train station which will get you to Dublin Pearse in just over an hour. Everywhere you go in Co Wicklow, you’ll spot a new development popping up. If you don’t fancy going the brand new route, but the area appeals, then this might just be the place.

10 Leitrim Place, Wicklow Town, Co Wicklow is on the market for €895,000 through Sherry Fitzgerald.

I’m just glad I am not the Irish politician who made up that new term, wasting everyone’s time in parliament, embarrassing himself to no end, in a week that will go down in history like no other… Amazyballs politics, an embarrassment to the emerald ire.

I just clicked on the old link about “amazeyballs” and did anyone else notice that the dail was all but empty?? If we all decided to just not show up for work when we didnt want to im sure we’d find ourselves unemployed however TD’s seem to be able to skip debates and votes whenever they see fit. Im not having a go at government here but maybe someone could explain how they get away with such absenteeism

I must say I love the quote from the South African people on the radio doing the rounds. ‘He saved our people WITHOUT ANY BLOODSHED’ He is a legend but come on!
