Dublin City Council signs contract for construction of 487 homes in new Inchicore development

Construction is expected to begin in February.

DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL has inked a deal with a construction company to build the majority of the homes in a new development in Inchicore, Dublin 8, which are expected to be completed by January 2028.

DCC announced the signing of the contract with Elliott Building & Civil Engineering Ltd. today, saying the firm has been hired to build 487 homes in a mixed-tenure housing development, as well as a creche and library.

The planned development, named An Droichead Órga, is eventually expected to comprise 578 “cost-rental and social homes designed to meet growing housing needs while fostering a vibrant, inclusive community”.

The project aims to provide “high-quality, affordable, energy-efficient homes alongside improved public spaces and community amenities,” the council said.

Dublin’s Lord Mayor, Ray McAdam, said the project “will not only deliver new homes but will also strengthen the social and cultural fabric of Inchicore.

“Dublin City Council is committed to ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, supportive, and vibrant neighbourhood.”

The new housing development will also include a supermarket, additional retail units, public open spaces and play facilities.

Construction is expected to begin in February.
