INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE MICK Wallace looks set to be elected to the Dáil as he currently tops the poll in his Wexford constituency.

Wallace, a builder and political activist, told RTE Radio that he plans to form a technical group of seven in the Dáil but would not be drawn on who this might feature.

He said he does not want to be part of any attempt by Fine Gael to form a government with independent candidates.

He told RTE Radio:

I’ve been involved in the community of Wexford for 20 years.

I didn’t make any promises on the doorstep and said he wouldn’t fix potholes or help people dodge hospital or housing queues.

But I said if I got in then I’d represent the people at a national and local level.
