Investigation launched after discovery of man's body in Cavan

The body of the man in his 40s was found at a residence on Connolly Street, Cavan town shortly after 3am.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS been launched following the discovery of a man’s body in Co Cavan. 

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted shortly after 3am when the body of the man aged in his 40s was found at a residence on Connolly Street in Cavan town.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner have been notified. The scene is currently preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

A post-mortem will be arranged, the results of which will assist gardaí in determining the course of the investigation

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
