A SCOTTISH MAN missing in Australia has been found safe and well after a worldwide appeal.

Jonathan Ansell (26) had last made contact with his family in Glasgow a fortnight ago, when he told his mother that he did not have a place to stay, or any money, and had lost his passport.

Earlier this week, police in Melbourne appealed to the public for help in tracing Ansell’s whereabouts.

Today, they said that Ansell has been located “safe and well”.

He made contact with his family following Monday’s public appeal and they attended the Melbourne East police station around 8pm this evening.

Ansell had been described as a quietly-spoken man and his family had been worried he may not approach people for assistance if he was in trouble. He had been sleeping rough in Melbourne and his visa had run out at the end of April.
