Dublin Bus to run full service as Labour Court talks get underway

Dublin Bus will operate a full service today following a three-day strike.

DUBLIN BUS SAYS it will operate a full service today following the suspension of a three-day strike by drivers.

Both parties in the pay and conditions dispute have been invited to Labour Court talks later this afternoon. It is understood chairman Kevin Duffy will explore possible solutions in two separate meetings – one with union representatives and another with company management.

Speaking to Morning Ireland, Public Transport Minister Alan Kelly said it was important that both sides in the dispute are provided with clarity and that workers have a take-home packet that justifies the “good work they do”.

However, he also noted the “severe pressure” management at Dublin Bus are under – from both the government and their board – to protect the company’s future and make it viable.

He added that he had confidence in the Labour Court process to find a resolution.

While talks are underway, no changes to workers pay or conditions will be implemented.
