Poll: Would league tables influence where you send your child to school?

Should they be taken as accurate measures of school performance?

THE IRISH TIMES and Irish Independent both have extensive coverage today of the latest education league tables, which rank schools according to the number of students graduating to third-level institutions in Ireland.

The lists continue to be dominated this year by fee-paying and Irish-language schools, a trend cited by critics who say their focus on progression rates ignores the achievements of less privileged students.

Others feel the tables, while flawed, provide valuable information on school performance.

This morning’s poll: Would league tables influence where you send your child to school?

Poll Results:

Yes (4659)
No (2178)
Not sure (649)
