THE ENTIRE LUAS green line will be down all day and night after a technical fault, the company has confirmed.
A statement this afternoon said that there is a fault with the tram’s overhead wires.
The company said both the nature and location of the fault has been identified. However, an investigation is underway to establish how it occurred.
“The fault on the overhead wires has damaged a number of trams. Technicians will continue to work through the remainder of the day and into the night,” operating firm Transdev continued, before apologising to affected passengers.
Services are expected to resume at 6.30am tomorrow.

Commuters had to find alternative transport this morning as the tram service suddenly stopped mid-service.
Some commuters were seen walking along the Luas tracks this morning after the announcement was made.
A Luas spokesperson said previously that it will be “at least after-peak” before services are resumed, but it has now been confirmed that there will be no services for the rest of today.
Luas tickets are currently valid on Dublin Bus, and the Red Line is operating normally.
Despite having to walk part of their morning commute, people were looking on the bright side.
Others weren’t thrilled.
