Man (20s) dies following three-car collision in Co Galway

The crash happened on the R336 at around 11.25pm last night.

A MAN HAS died following a three-car collision in Co Galway last night.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision on the R336 in Bearna at around 11.25pm. 

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

A garda spokesperson said that no other injuries were reported.

The road between Bearna (Barna) and Na Forbacha (Furbo) remains closed this morning to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions are in place and motorists are encouraged to take the N59 route.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

They are particularly appealing to any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to them.
