Man (50s) dies following single vehicle collision in Co Mayo last night

The fatal occurred on the R323, Knock Road, at Bracklaghboy, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo.

A MAN IN his 50s has died following a single vehicle collision in Co Mayo last night.

The fatal occurred at around 10.10pm on the R323, Knock Road, at Bracklaghboy, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo.

Gardaí and emergency services attended and the sole occupant of the car, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The road is currently closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Investigators, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 9.30pm to 10.30pm are asked to make this footage available.
