Man arrested over killing of Dean Fitzpatrick

The 23-year-old victim was the brother of missing Irish teenager Amy Fitzpatrick, who went missing in while walking home in Malaga in 2008.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING THE death of 23-year-old Dean Fitzpatrick, who was fatally stabbed in Dublin 17 last night, have arrested a man in connection with the attack.

The victim was the brother of missing Irish teenager Amy Fitzpatrick, who disappeared in Malaga in Spain when she was 15 years old. She was last seen leaving a friend’s house in Fuengirola at about 9pm on New Year’s Day 2008.

Dean Fitzpatrick’s body was discovered at Northern Cross, Malahide Road at about 11.20pm yesterday. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A male in his early 40s has been arrested in connection with the death this afternoon and is currently detained at Coolock Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses that may have been at Northern Cross, Malahide Road around the times of the incident, 11.20pm, and may have witnessed the altercation or be able to assist with the investigation to contact Coolock Garda Station on 01-6664200, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
