POLICE IN THE city of Oakland, California are looking for two drivers who slammed their vehicles into a man wielding a machete on the street in the middle of the night, earlier this week.
An extraordinary series of bystander videos has emerged, showing the man stalking the corner of 37th Avenue and International Boulevard in the city, around 3am on Monday.
In the first, he can be seen screaming, cursing, having glass bottles thrown at him, throwing glass bottles himself, as well as charging at passing motorists and slashing their cars.
Soon afterwards, two drivers appear to take the law into their own hands, running him over three times, before the man with the machete somehow gets back up again.
(Warning: This video contains strong language throughout, and images that some viewers may find upsetting).
A third and final video shows the man continuing to walk around the street corner, albeit apparently injured, before being arrested peacefully by arriving police officers.
In a statement yesterday, Oakland police said the 25-year-old man was treated at the scene by medical personnel, before being taken to a nearby hospital and placed in psychiatric detention.
Investigators…are investigating this incident as assaults with deadly weapons. They are looking for the drivers of the two vehicles involved.
