Man (50s) dies in single vehicle car crash in Cork

The crash happened at approximately 12:50pm this afternoon

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses after a man died in a crash in Cork today.

The crash happened at approximately 12:50pm in Castletownroche, Co Cork this afternoon and involved a single vehicle.

The male driver, aged in his 50s, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

His body was taken to Cork University Hospital for a post mortem examination.

The road where the incident happens remains closed to the public as a technical examination is being carried out. Gardaí said they expect the road to be fully reopened by 6pm this evening.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. 

They are asking that road users who were in the area between 12:30pm and 1pm today who may have footage, including dash-cam footage, to make it available to the investigation.
