Man dies in UCC accident

The man was fatally injured this afternoon on the UCC campus.

A MAN HAS died in an accident at University College Cork.

Gardaí told TheJournal.ie that the man in his 50s was fatally injured during an industrial-type accident. The man and a second person were at the scene when the incident occurred.

It is believed the man was on a cherry picker when he was injured this afternoon on campus.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and brought to Cork University Hospital. A post-mortem is due to take place.

The Health and Safety Authority and gardaí are investigating.

The Cork Independent reports that the man was an employee at UCC.
