MASSBROOK HOUSE SITS OVERLOOKING Lough Conn, Co Mayo and has two major famous connections.

Firstly, it’s currently the home of Ireland’s first female president, Mary Robinson, who reportedly wishes to leave the beautiful estate to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Secondly, the five-bedroom home was designed by Sir Thomas Drew, the architect behind some of Dublin’s most incredible buildings including Christ Church Cathedral, Ulster Bank on Dame Street, Rathmines Town Hall and the Graduates Memorial Building in Trinity.

It’s on sale for €1.95 million from Sherry Fitzgerald Country Homes, Farms and Estates via Daft.ie.

The house is approached by a long, tree-lined avenue and the 113 acres it is built on enjoy almost a mile of lake frontage onto Lough Conn.

The rear of the house has its own guest or staff apartment, known affectionately as ‘The Den’, which comprises a sitting room, a bedroom and a bathroom. All have been recently refurbished.

The welcoming hall features original wood panelling and solid wood floors, and on either side are two spacious reception rooms – the drawing room and dining room, each with a feature fireplace with marble surround, and hardwood flooring.
