POLICE IN THE US state of Maryland have released dramatic dashcam footage of officers rescuing two infants from a burning car.

The two children and three adults were “severely injured” in the car crash which caused the blaze.

The crash happened on St Charles Parkway, Charles County, last week.

Fire extinguishers were used to put out the fire, while the driver (who had suffered multiple fractures and was unable to move) was pulled away from the burning vehicle.

When the rescuing officers realised there were further casualties in the car they entered the vehicle and grabbed the trapped infants, one of whom had suffered a fractured skull.

One of two women involved in the accident was ejected from the car and found further along the road. She was resuscitated following the administration of life-saving aid.

Two of the five injured in the crash remain hospitalised with critical injuries.

“”These are the horrific scenes officers and firefighters encounter frequently. They didn’t have time to think, they just reacted,” said Charles County sheriff Troy Berry.

We thank God for their bravery. They certainly helped save the lives of those in the car.
