The 'McDonald's of the future' is offering diners all-you-can-eat fries

The offer is being planned for one store in the US Midwest.

MCDONALD’S HAS BEEN making efforts to overhaul its image in the US in recent months. The fast food giant has even introduced innovations like an all-day breakfast to address customers’ top complaint about the brand: lack of choice and variety.

It’s also launched new kinds of restaurants - like this one in Manhattan which features a “Create Your Taste” kiosk where you can craft, in their words, “the burger of your dreams”.

But now a franchisee in Missouri has hit on another new idea, one that addresses a rather more basic desire: all-you-can-eat fries.

The offer will be available at a new 6,500 square foot restaurant opening in July in the Midwest US state.

Customised orders will also be available at the restaurant, which is set to feature decor in “earthy tones” and armchairs, the St Joseph News-Press reports. The franchisee is billing the restaurant as the ‘McDonald’s of the future’.

Sales at McDonald’s restaurants around the world jumped 5% globally including 5.7% in the US for the quarter that ended 31 December last. Providing additional choice was a vital step in attracting back customers, one business consultant noted.
