Each week, we step inside a reader’s home, and indulge in some copycat behaviour, creating a shopping list inspired by their interior style.
This week, Monika Janus’ (@green_door_house) dining area was our inspiration.
“We wanted to achieve the modern rustic appearance in our dining area by mixing white and reclaimed wood tones – a timeless combination,” says Monika. “Both me and my husband love mixing timeless design from the past with modern influences. Adding the rustic touch to our kitchen made our semi-detached townhouse feel like a cottage nestled in the countryside.”
DFS, Ikea and Dunnes Stores were Monika’s main ports of call when decorating this space. Below are six high street items that’ll help you get the look in your own home…
1. New York poster, €14.95, Desenio
This print is an exact match for Monika’s – although you could choose a map of your favourite city instead.
2. Jute table mat, €7.99, H&M
Add on-trend table mats to your dining space for a cheap and cheerful update.
3. Artificial plant, €19.99, Jysk
No modern space is complete without a large plant.
4. Pendant lamp, €15.45, Ikea
Another simple update, switch out old light fittings for a modern option that won’t break the bank.
5. Faux fur rug, €24.99, Jysk
Make benches or wooden chairs cosy by fitting a faux fur rug on top.
6. Mid-century modern chair, €20.65, Sklum
We love Monika’s chairs – and these are a super affordable dupe.
