Motorcyclist seriously injured after crash in Westmeath

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

A MOTORCYCLIST in his 30s has been left seriously injured after a crash in Westmeath. 

A car and the motorcyclist were involved in the crash which took place at around 5.30 pm yesterday on Main Street, Rochfortbridge. 

The injured man was taken to Tullamore Hospital for treatment. 

The scene is currently being preserved to allow for a technical examination, and local traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. 

A Gardaí spokesperson said: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling through Rochfortbridge between 5:15pm and 5:45pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
