Motorcyclist killed in collision with a car in Waterford city

The man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A MALE MOTORCYCLIST has died following a collision with a car in Waterford city today.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision shortly after 1pm. The man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to University Hospital Waterford. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, gardaí said.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 30s, was taken to University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non life-threatening. 

There were no other injuries reported.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently conducting an examination of the scene and the road remains closed. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 12.50pm and 1.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Homeowners along the Williamstown Road who may have CCTV footage are also asked to make this available to Gardaí,” a statement said.
