A COUNCIL IN Melbourne, Australia has said it will not cover up naked murals painted on a building by street artist Lushsux.
The two seven-storey images show a naked woman and man taking selfies, and appear on a disused power station in Geelong.
Melbourne City Council has already painted over a number of designs by Lushsux.
However, the Guardian quotes the city of greater Geelong’s planning manager Peter Bettess as saying the artworks on the power station will not be censored as it is private property.
“The human figure has been the subject for countless artists over thousands of years. There will no doubt be strong public opinion about the subject matter,” Bettess said.
Last month Lushsux painted a giant mural in Sydney based on a naked photo of Kim Kardashian. The owner of the building was told to remove it after a neighbour complained.
The reality TV star is a favourite subject of the artist, who also recreated a topless selfie she recently took with model Emily Ratajkowski.
