Gardaí investigate fatal crash in Navan

A woman in her 30′s was killed in the collision with a bus and a three-year-old girl also in the car was taken to hospital.

GARDAÍ IN NAVAN are investigating a fatal road crash that occurred on the outskirts of Navan on the Kells Road at approximately 6.10pm yesterday.

A woman in her 30’s was fatally injured when the car she was driving was in collision with a bus. She was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she was pronounced dead.

The only other passenger in the car, a three-year-old girl, was taken to hospital with injuries described as not life threatening. A number of people on the bus, including the driver, were also taken to Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital with injuries described as minor.

RTE reported that the double-decker Bus Éireann coach had left Cavan bound for Dublin with 53 passengers on board.

Gardai have issued an appeal for witnesses to contact Navan Garda Station on 046-9079930, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

It is understood Bus Éireann will also carry out its own investigation into the collision.
