IRELAND

Government announced a mammoth fuel support package – costed at over half a billion euro – after six days of protests against fuel costs.
Blockades of critical fuel depots in Galway and Foynes, Co Limerick ended today, as a separate blockade at Rosslare Europort in Co Wexford was stood down.
Practical exams for Leaving Certificate subject music and Junior Cycle home economics due to be held tomorrow were postponed.
Sinn Féin said it will table a motion of no confidence in the government over its handling of the fuel protests.
With the lifting of blockades this weekend, it may still take about “ten days” for normality to resume at filling stations according to the country’s fuel industry body.
Gardaí cleared fuel protesters from a number of roads across the country, including Dublin’s M50 motorway, but a number of protests and road closures remain in place this evening.

#STRAIT OF HORMUZ: The United States Navy will begin blockading “any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz”, effective immediately, US President Donald Trump said.

#HUNGARY: Hungarians are casting ballots in what is widely seen as Europe’s most consequential election this year, a vote that could unseat populist Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, an ally of US President Donald Trump, after 16 years in power.
