No-one elected in Dublin Mid West in first count

While Labour’s Joanna Tuffy is in the lead after the first count in Dublin Mid West, no candidate reached the quota required.

NOBODY HAS BEEN elected in Dublin Mid West following the first count, as no candidate reached the quota.

Labour candidate Joanna Tuffy was in the lead with 7,499 votes – however the quota stood at 8,545.

The candidate with the next highest count was Fine Gael’s Francis Fitzgerald with 7,681 votes, followed by Labour’s Robert Dowds with 5,643 votes, then Sinn Féin’s Eoin Ó Broin with 5,060 votes and finally Fine Gael’s Derek Keating with 5,933 votes.

The constituency saw a very high turnout, with 82.5 per cent going to the polling booth yesterday.

The votes will now move into count two.
