ON-THE-SPOT LITTER FINES are set to rise by €100 later this year, the Irish Independent has reported.
The increase is expected to be announced this week by Minister of State Alan Dillon and would raise the fixed penalty for littering from €150 to €250.
The move was previously backed by Dublin’s lord mayor Ray McAdam, who said that local residents were frustrated by repeated dumping and littering in their areas.
“Stronger fines will help ensure our city centre is respected and kept clean for everyone,” the Fine Gael councillor said.
So, we want to hear your thoughts.
Tell us: Do you think increasing litter fines is a good idea?
