Watch: The climate crisis and COP26 - Open Newsroom

As we approach the COP26 summit we look at what role Ireland and the EU will play in the talks

AS PART OF The Good Information Project this cycle, we’re taking a deep dive into the climate crisis in the lead-up to COP26, where world leaders will meet in Glasgow to negotiate new climate agreements.

Our Open Newsroom discussion asked what role Ireland and the EU will play in the talks, as well as providing answers to your climate questions.

We were joined by John Gibbons, an environmental journalist and commentator, who has been following the climate crisis for more than a decade.

Also on the call is Niall Sargent, an investigative journalist from Noteworthy.ie. Niall is an expert in environmental journalism and his recent work on biodiversity is essential reading.

From our team we had deputy editor Christine Bohan hosting with vital contributions from reporters Lauren Boland and Orla Dwyer.

Don’t hold your breathe for any major breakthroughs..

Actually do hold your breathe, it will probably do more to reduce CO2 emissions than any agreements reached!

@Geraldine Fenton: none. But thinking we should be allowed to do which we ask others not to do, also does not make sense.

The 15th UN Biodiversity Conference is on now in China. It would be great to get some coverage on that. Thanks.

Here come the climate lockdowns, travel limitations to prevent Carbon emissions and more draconian measures as the bilderberg group cook up more excuses to take more from the average hardworking Irish.
