Phoenix Park warns public 'Lantern Festival' advertised online is fake

No such event appears on the schedule on the Phoenix Park’s website.

THERE IS NO ‘Lantern Festival’ scheduled to take place at the Phoenix Park in Dublin, the Office of Public Works (OPW) has said.

In posts on its social media accounts, the Phoenix Park said:

“We have been made aware of advertisements for a Lantern Festival Ireland event in the Phoenix Park.

“We would like to advise the public that no such event is scheduled or approved to take place in the Park.”

The Park’s statement appears to be referencing supposed events promoted on a website called lanternfestivalireland.com, which is selling tickets for the bogus festival in four locations around the country at €24.99 each.

The website features art that is clearly AI-generated and also lists a number of benefits that it claims come with purchases of tickets to events in Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Cork.

No such event appears on the schedule on the Phoenix Park’s website.
