Would you rather live in the city or the countryside?

Dublin city councillor Deirdre Heney suggested during a council meeting last week that its housing committee encourage people to move from the city.

LAST WEEK, THE chair of Dublin City Council’s housing committee suggested it work to encourage people to move from the city.

Fianna Fáil councillor Deirdre Heney told The Irish Independent that her suggestion was to establish a programme similar to the defunct Rural Resettlement Ireland scheme.

“There’s so much more out there than just being in Dublin, so much more else happening,” she said.

Minister Thomas Byrne and Sinn Féin TD Claire Kerrane clashed on services in provincial towns on RTÉ’s Saturday radio programme this afternoon as Kerrane emphasised that despite the Government’s commitment to build more housing, there has not been the same focus on improving and increasing services and infrastructure in said areas.

So today we’re asking you: Cost aside, would you rather live in the city, town, or the countryside?
