Poll: Have you experienced inequality in the workplace?

A new ESRI study appears to suggest that the battle for equality in the workplace has not been hit by the recession – in fact, more Irish workplaces have a formal equality policy in place than ever. Have you ever been a victim of workplace inequality?

A NEW STUDY from the Economic and Social Research Institute has been looking at equality policies in Irish workplaces.

On the face of it, it seems the situation has improved in recent years. In 2003, only 75 per cent of employees said they worked in an organisation which had a formal equality policy in place. By 2009, that figure had gone up to 84 per cent.

Equality policy does not just refer to gender equality – the Equality Authority refers to creating equal opportunities for every worker across the nine grounds of gender, marital status, family status, age, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion and membership of the Traveller community.

We’d like to know what experience you’ve had in the workplace – have you ever personally experienced inequality on any of the above grounds?
