Poll: Should graveyards charge for parking?

It’s reported that a new €2 charge will be introduced at Dardistown Cemetery

THE GROUP THAT manages Dardistown Cemetery in Dublin has come under fire after it announced that charges were to be brought into use the carpark there.

The Herald reports that a new €2 charge to park at Dardistown Cemetery will be introduced from 2 May onwards.

The Glasnevin Trust – which manages the cemetery – said that the fee was being introduced to stop people who weren’t visiting the cemetery from parking there all day.

There has also been damage to the cemetery and surrounding areas as a result.

The Trust also said the parking fees will help beef up security at the cemetery and combat illegal dumping in the area.

Another graveyard – Glasnevin Cemetery – currently charges €2 for parking per hour

However, people have criticised the move, saying that people shouldn’t have to pay money to visit their loved ones.

So, what do you think?
