Poll: Should daylight saving time be abolished?

What do you think about putting the clocks back – is it needed in modern times?

THIS WEEKEND WE’RE getting an extra hour in bed as the clocks go back? What could be so bad about that? Perhaps you’re actually getting an extra hour in work.

But every year, there seems to be renewed calls by some to end putting the clocks back during the winter.

Just last year, Labour TD Tommy Broughan was looking to abolish daylight saving time with The Brighter Evenings Bill 2012.

However, Minister for Justice Alan Shatter dismissed the proposal saying he had no plans “at this time” to change the present system.

Today’s poll is: Should daylight saving time be abolished?
