Poll: Will you watch the Eurovision Song Contest?

The semi-finals begin this evening, with the big finale on Saturday. Will you admit to sneaking a peek?

IT’S A WEEK that most people profess to hate, but which a reasonable chunk of society seem to love – with almost one in twelve people around the world tuning in to watch the live finale.

Despite the mixed emotions that it conjures, the Eurovision Song Contest remains a firm fixture of the TV calendar, occupying the third week of every May since the first contest back in 1956 – and retaining its stance as one of the world’s most-watched non-sporting events.

Ireland has a rich history at the contest – winning it more times than any other country, with seven victories – but has struggled to make an impact since the move to televoting began in 1997, the last time we hosted the competition.

With Jedward set for their second attempt at bringing the contest back to Ireland, we’re wondering what you make of it all – and whether the bombast and glitter of the competition is still likely to rein you in tonight or on Saturday.

So – will you watch this year’s Eurovision Song Contest?
