Price Comparison: What can I buy in Galway for under €500,000?

From Ballinasloe to Headford, take a look at these spacious detached homes.

WITH PROPERTY ACROSS the country in such high demand, it can be really hard to get an idea of what your money will get you.

That’s why each week, we pick a number of homes in a specific county, to make things a little easier to comprehend.

This week, we’re looking at properties around Galway with an asking price of €500,000 or less.

Four-bed, detached, Ballinasloe – €375,000

Tullywicky is a modern home with a brightly lit hallway thanks to its double aspect and glazed front door. The living room is laid in solid wood floors, grabs light from all angles and has a feature fire place. The kitchen and dining room is a large open plan space with carbon grey units that contrast with the wood countertops. The hallway the also leads to the large bedrooms – three of the four are doubles on the ground floor

The house is located just a 15 minute drive from the motorway and Galway city is reachable within a half an hour, so the train station is close by for any hybrid workers who need to keep their connection to another city. There’s a pick of primary and secondary schools close by and a school bus service passes the front door

The home enjoys panoramic countryside views and the sense of space is reflected inside through the open plan areas. The kitchen is shared with the dining area and links to the sitting room with its wood burning stove. A utility room sits off the modern and sleek kitchen.

Four-bed, detached, Tuam – €265,000

111 Cois Na H-Abhainn is a spacious and light-filled home that spans 150 m². The rooms comprise a modern open plan living area and a dining area that links to the kitchen. The back garden is accessed through the nicely-sized utility room. A downstairs toilet completes the ground floor.

The main bedroom, upstairs, has a similar bay window to the living room’s so the space is flooded with natural light. The room has an en suite bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. A family bathroom on the same floor serves the rest of the bedrooms. Location-wise, the motorway is less than two minutes away and there is also daily bus service to Galway city centre.

Four-bed, detached, Headford – €450,000

This family home in Kiltrasna overlooks Lough Corrib. Energy efficient and spacious, it’s set in the countryside yet Galway city is just 20 minutes away. Even though it was in 2002, it uses an air to water heat pump, a vented air space heating and air conditioner and is insulated well giving it a C1 BER. The rooms spread over 200 m² and that doesn’t include the floored attic space

The bedrooms are nicely-sized, are flooded with natural light and have wide plank natural oak floors. The smallest bedroom has renovation potential if three bedrooms are enough.
