Ray D'Arcy to launch podcast next week, five months after RTÉ departure

So much to talk about, we have to do it daily.

RAY D’ARCY IS set to launch a new podcast, around five months after his shock departure from RTÉ.

On 9 October last, it was announced that D’Arcy would be leaving RTÉ Radio after over a decade with the station.

Minutes after RTÉ’s announcement, D’Arcy said he was “hugely disappointed with RTÉ management and how my departure from Radio 1 has been handled”.

He added: “I love radio and daily radio is part of who I am. I look forward to the opportunities ahead.”

D’Arcy also told The Irish Times he was “completely blindsided” by the decision not to renew his contract.

However, RTÉ’s director general Kevin Bakhurst said D’Arcy “had plenty of warning” that his show could be axed.

Today, it was announced that ‘Ray D’Arcy Daily’ will launch next Monday, 9 March.

D’Arcy’s wife Jenny Kelly today said in a post to social media that “this five day a week show is nothing new, and yet ALL NEW”.

“It’s Monday to Friday with Ray giving his own world view while surrounded by friends of the show, me, Mairead Ronan and Bernard O’Shea to name a few.”

In a trailer for the podcast, D’Arcy said he’s back with a podcast and that he’ll be joined by family and friends both “old and new”.

“And me being me, there will be a quiz,” added D’Arcy.

“So much to talk about, we have to do it daily.”

D’Arcy first rose to fame on The Den alongside Zig and Zag in the 1990s before moving on to radio and television.
