Take a look at Renault's new Mégane Sport Tourer family estate

The big estate car is the latest model to join the refreshed Renault family.

RENAULT IS TAKING orders for its all-new Mégane Sport Tourer, which will arrive here just in time for Christmas.

The Mégane Sport Tourer is the latest addition to the refreshed Renault family and joins the Kadjar crossover, all-new Mégane, the new Mégane Grand Coupe, the all-new Scenic and Grand Scénic in Renault’s newest and youngest car range.

The Mégane Sport Tourer is built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance ‘CMF’ platform and is based on the fourth-gen Mégane that launched in Ireland in June of this year. Being an estate car it boasts bigger boot space than the hatchback, 521 litres with the rear seats up and 1,504 litres with the rear seats folded.

This compare to 434 litres seats up, 1,247 litres seats folded for the hatch.

Renault’s passive safety systems, such as six airbags, seatbelts with load limiters and pretensioners at the front, side impact protection bars and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points on the two outer rear seats are standard across the range.

The Megane Sport Tourer will be available in five trim levels; Expression, Dynamique Nav, Dynamique S Nav, as well as GT Line and GT.

There is a choice of four engines: two Energy TCe turbocharged petrol options, a 1.2-litre making 130hp and a 1.6-litre making 205hp. However, the more powerful petrol unit will only be available in the GT model. The turbodiesel options are a 1.5-litre dCi unit making 110hp or a 1.6-litre dCi unit making 130hp.

A six-speed Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic gearbox is available with the 1.6-litre dCi engine and a seven-speed EDC automatic gearbox is standard with the 1.6-litre TCe engine for the GT version.

Fuel consumption is quoted as 3.7 litres/100km (NEDC Combined), with CO2 emissions from 96g/km (Band A2, €180 per annum). Fuel consumption and emissions are kept low due in part to the car’s sleek shape, low weight (1,340kg for the 130hp 1.6-litre TCe versions) and the engine’s Stop&Start technology, which is standard on all manual models.

The Renault Mégane Sport Tourer is available to order now and is priced from €20,490.

All new Renaults come with a five-year warranty and roadside assistance and three years free servicing.
