Rhasidat Adeleke confirms she will run 4x400m relay final tomorrow night

The team qualified for the Olympic final in a stunning third-place finish this morning.

RHASIDAT ADELEKE HAS confirmed she will run in the Olympic final of the 4x400m women’s relay tomorrow evening.

Speaking to reporters after finishing fourth in the individual event at the Stade de France tonight, she said she will line up with her Ireland teammates at 8.15pm (Irish time).

The quartet of Sophie Becker, Phil Healy, Kelly McGrory and Sharlene Mawdsley qualified for the final with a stunning third-place finish in their heat today.

The start list for the final won’t be named until tomorrow. It is expected, once she is available, Adeleke will replace McGrory.

“Yeah, absolutely,” she responded when asked if the relay offers a chance to ‘get some frustrations out’.

“I think it’s another opportunity to get out here and give it my all.”

@Ann Nugent: UN designated terrorist group Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a rebranded version of the Al Qeada affiliate al-Nusra Front, controls the towns and villages around the crossing, they tax cross border trade. The only route in an out of Rebel held Idlib province.

“The most significant shift in HTS economic policy occurred in July 2017, when the group took over the Bab al-Hawa crossing, one of the biggest sources of revenue in NW Syria and a particularly strategic acquisition in terms of the relationship with Turkey.”

A later agreement turned over Bab al-Hawa crossing to civilian control but HTS still controls the towns and villages nearby, they will continue to tax cross-border trade. This is why Russia wanted the crossing closed.

This is good news but the people in these awful camps need to be moved on to decent conditions and hope for the future.

Ah the UN great bunch of lads, they can get the USA and Russia to sort themselves out and work together, some job like. It’s a good record but I still think they’d struggle to sort out Clare hurling, but sure might be worth a go if they fancy a challenge, just add to the drama and dysfunction even more, I’ll go get the pop corn!
