Man (84) dies in road crash after collision with oncoming vehicle

The incident occurred yesterday at around midday.

AN 84-YEAR-OLD MAN has died following a crash in Monaghan.

A second driver, a 37-year-old woman, was uninjured in the incident.

The man was critically injured when his car left the road, hit a ditch, and then collided with an oncoming vehicle.

He was rushed to Cavan General Hospital but died later that afternoon.

Garrdai are appealing for any witnesses to contact Monaghan Garda Station on 04777200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

It brings the number of people killed in collisions yesterday to five.

Three women and a 10-year-old child died in an unrelated incident in Mullingar yesterday.
