Learn about the depths of the ocean, defy gravity or get to grips with coding, for a day out where everyone is sure to learn something new. Here’s what’s on around Ireland right now…
Explorium: A brand new day out for families, Explorium opened its doors for the first time earlier this month. With over 300 interactive science and sports activities, there’s a ‘gravity room’, a bed of nails and even a giant hamster wheel for adventurous little ones, while there are also plenty of events for the younger members of the family too.

Imaginosity: Known as Dublin Children’s Museum, Imaginosity is spread over three floors and features 19 educationally designed interactive exhibit spaces, including an eco floor and a doctor’s surgery for would-be medical experts. Booking in advance is strongly advised.

Northern Ireland Raspberry Jam Science Festival: From computer programming to inventing a new gadget, there’s something for everyone at Raspberry Jam events. All equipment is provided, and there are activities available for attendees of all skill sets.

Blackrock Castle Observatory: Explore space, hear about what (or who) exists on other planets or try your hand at star gazing in the planetarium. Adults and children will find plenty to pique their curiosity here.

Sea Science at Galway City Museum: Delve deep into the ocean at The Wild Atlantic Exhibition at Galway City Museum, where you’ll explore the depths of the ocean and learn about the wonders of our marine world.

Science Centre at Birr Castle: Visit the Science Centre at Birr Castle to learn about the wonders of early photography, engineering and astronomy, and see the centre’s giant telescope (which was once the largest in the world).
