Road users have been urged to avoid the area.

LAST UPDATE | 11 Sep

ALL ROUTES AROUND Dublin Port have re-opened following what was described as a “traffic incident” involving a truck this morning.

In a statement this morning, a spokesperson said a “traffic incident on Whitebank Road leading onto Pigeon House Road is affecting traffic in both directions”.

The spokesperson added that a response team and contractors are on site and “managing the situation”.

No injuries were reported.

For a time this morning and afternoon, there was no access to the Poolbeg Peninsula from Southbank Road and the Pigeon House Road was currently closed.

The Poolbeg penninsula extends east from Ringsend and is home to the southern part of Dublin Port, as well as landmarks like the Poolbeg chimneys and the Great South Wall.

The disruption lasted a number of hours and further knock-on impacts were felt around the city.

In a statement this afternoon, a spokesperson said the “incident on Pigeon House Road has been fully resolved and the route is now clear”.

The spokesperson added that there was “no environmental impact” from the incident and Dublin Port acknowledged the “swift response of the emergency teams and contractors on site”.
