Swimmer rescued by lifeboat after getting into difficulties in Cork

The swimmer was reported to be badly shaken by the incident and was brought to Cork University Hospital.

A MAN WAS rescued by a lifeboat crew this afternoon after getting into difficulties at Castlepark marina in Cork.

A crew from Kinsale RNLI found the man struggling in the water just after 4.30pm after being alerted to the situation by Gardaí.

The swimmer was brought aboard the lifeboat which then returned to the station at Kinsale where a medical adviser administered first aid. The man was transferred to Cork University Hospital by ambulance.

“He was extremely lucky that he was spotted in difficulty and that help was close by,” said Kinsale RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager John O’Gorman.

“He was cold and badly shaken by the incident. In those situations every second counts”.
