1. #SHOOTING A man in his thirties has been shot dead in north Dublin today. The shooting occurred at around 1.15pm at Marsfield Avenue in Clongriffin.

2. #RACE FOR THE ÁRAS Independent TD Maureen O’Sullivan has told TheJournal.ie that as far as she’s concerned Senator David Norris is still an ‘active candidate’ in the hunt for a nomination for October’s presidential election. Norris addressed a meeting of independent TDs and senators in Leinster House.

3. #RACE FOR THE ÁRAS 2 Meanwhile a meeting of the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party will take place this evening to discuss the bid of a four-term FF senator for the Áras. Labhrás Ó Murchú says he’s decided to make a formal run as an independent candidate, and feels he stands a good chance of securing the 20 signatures he needs.

4. #MEDICAL CARDS The Health Minister James Reilly has said that legislation that will lift the restriction on some GPs treating medical card holders is now a priority for the government. GPs are welcoming the change to the system, which had been considered by some to be biased and unfair.

5. #UH-OH The European Commission has lowered its expectations for the growth of the European economy, saying that it will almost totally grind to a halt towards the end of the year. The EU and the Eurozone will meet their annual growth targets though.
