Simon Harris and wife welcome baby just days before budget

It is understood that Harris will take paternity leave following Tuesday’s budget announcement.

THE TÁNAISTE AND his wife Caoimhe Wade have welcomed a baby girl.

The baby was born yesterday.

Harris and his wife already have a daughter, Saoirse (7), and a son, Cillian (5).

Speaking at the Fianna Fáil Presidents Dinner, Taoiseach Micheál Martin wished the couple his best.

“Could I first of all wish my colleague to Tánaiste Simon and Caoimhe congratulations, the very best… joyous news on the birth of their baby girl,” Martin said.

“I was in touch with him yesterday, and that was signed that we have a budget to bring to completion on Tuesday. Was great news all around.”

The news came following the cancellation of the press conference with public expenditure minister Jack Chambers, which is held every Friday before the budget.
