So, here is what we can expect to be happening in the Dáil, Seanad and Committee rooms today…

4 things will keeping an eye on

  • Dáil: Leaders’ Questions – Taoiseach Enda Kenny will take part in this usually heated exchange – at 12 noon.
  • Dáil: Irish Water – Fianna Fáil’s Private Members’ Business in relation to Irish Water criticises the complete “lack of transparency” in the establishment of Irish Water. This resumes from yesterday at 12.41pm.
  • Committees: Top-ups: The former CEO of the Central Remedial Clinic Brian Conlan will be in front of the Public Accounts Committee following controversy before Christmas about top-up payments being made to senior staff. Nicholas Jermyn the Group Chief Executive of St. Vincent’s Healthcare will also be questioned by the committee in Room 1 from 10am.
  • Committees: Health – The Minister for Health James Reilly and the Director General of the HSE Tony O’Brien will be at the Joint Committee meeting on Health and Children in Room 2 at 9.30am. The fact that O’Brien said on Tuesday that the HSE will not meet growing demands is sure to come up.

Everything else that’s happening in the Dáil

  • The Minister for Finance Michael Noonan will take questions at 9.30am.
  • The Order of Business will be taken at 12.21pm.
  • The second stages of the of the Betting Amendment Bill will be discussed at 10.45am and resumed after 12.41pm.
  • In the afternoon there will be statements on the recent storm damage.
  • What four issues will be raised today during Topical Issues? They’ll be taken at 4.42pm.
  • The Dáil adjourns for the week at 5.30pm.

Everything else that’s happening in the Seanad

  • Senators start the day by discussing anything and everything on the Order of Business from 10.30pm.
  • The chair of the Constitutional Convention, Tom Arnold, will address the Seanad on the work done by the Constitutional Convention at 11.45am.
  • Senators Paul Coughlan, Maurice Cummins and Michael Comiskey will discuss the Valuation (Amendment) Bill 2013 and then it’s Matters on the Adjournment at 1.45pm.

Everything else that’s happening in the Committees

  • Diana Zagorianou-Prifti, the Greek ambassador to Ireland will be at the Joint Committee on European Affairs in Room 4 at 2pm to disucss the EU Presidency Priorities of Greece.
  • Denis Staunton, the Deputy Editor of The Irish Times and Graham Butler of the University of Copenhagen will be at the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade meeting to discuss the department’s Review of Foreign Policy and External Relations in Room 3 at 2.15pm.
  • The Joint Committee on Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will discuss the Civic Forum for Northern Ireland with the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) and also discuss the matter of those affected by violence with the Justice for the Forgotten in Room 4 at 10.15am.
  • The Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the Government Chief Whip Paul Kehoe will attend the Select Sub-Committee meeting of the Department of the Taoiseach to discuss the revised estimates for public services this year that affect his department as well as the Office of the Attorney General, the Central Statistics Office, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Office of the Chief State. This will be in Room 2 at 4.15pm.
