Toddler dies after being struck by car at Dublin shopping centre

The incident occurred this morning in an underground car park in Charlestown Shopping Centre near Finglas.

A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy has died after being struck by a car in Dublin.

The incident occurred this morning in an underground car park in Charlestown Shopping Centre near the Dublin suburb of Finglas. Shortly after 8:40am, gardaí and emergency services arrived on the scene.

The scene is preserved and forensic tests by garda investigators are being carried out.

The boy sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Temple Street Hospital. He was pronounced dead this afternoon.

A Family Liaison Officer has being appointed to support the family at this time.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

People who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the Charlestown area this morning between 8:20am and 9:00am are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
