The 11am train has been delayed by up to 35 minutes after a railway bridge at Carrick-on-Shannon was hit by a truck.
In 2016 there were 92 incidents of vehicles hitting bridges, which is an increase on 2015. So far this year there have been 65 bridge strikes, with the highest increase recorded along the Dart line.
